COMPANY IS HOLDING THE EXCLUSIVE RIGHTS FOR A PROPRIETARY TECHNOLOGY , WHICH IS TO REVOLUTIONIZE THE WAY INDUSTRIAL WASTE WATERS FROM THE TEXTILE AND LEATHER INDUSTRIES ARE GOING TO BE PURIFIED.

ABSTRACT. PROCESS AND WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT FOR THE BIOLOGICAL TREATMENT OF DYE-CONTAINING WASTER WATERS FROM THE TEXTILE AND LEATHER INDUSTRIES.

TO TREAT DYE-CONTAINING WASTEWATERS, CHEMICAL AND PHYSICAL TREATMENT METHODS HAVE BEEN USED VIRTUALLY EXCLUSIVELY HITHERTO. A PROCESS AND A WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT OPERATING ACCORDING TO THIS ARE NOW SOUGHT AFTER, BY MEANS OF WHICH A BIOLOGICAL TREATMENT BECOMES POSSIBLE.

ACCORDING TO THE PROCESS, THE DYE-CONTAINING WASTEWATERS ARE PASSED TO AN ANAEROBIC PRELIMINARY STAGE HAVING A NEGATIVE REDOX POTENTIAL, THEN THEY PASS, AFTER A MINIMUM RESIDENCE TIME IN THE ANAEROBIC PRELIMINARY STAGE, DEPENDING ON THE TYPE OF THE DYES, INTO A FACULTATIVE ANAEROBIC OR AEROBIC ACTIVATION STAGE, IN WHICH, AT A LOADING PER UNIT VOLUME OF >=1.0KG OF BOD/(CBM X D) AND AT A POSITIVE REDOX POTENTIAL BETWEEN 0 MV AND +180MV, ACTIVATED SLUDGE IS CULTURED WHICH, AFTER SEDIMENTATION, IS PARTLY RE-CIRCULATED TO THE ACTIVATION STAGE AND PARTLY TO THE ANAEROBIC PRELIMINARY STAGE AND IS OTHERWISE REMOVED AFTER THICKENING. NUTRIENTS ARE ADDED TO THE WASTE WATERS IN THE PRELIMINARY STAGE AND/OR IN THE ACTIVATION STAGE. IN THE PRELIMINARY STAGE THE NEGATIVE REDOX POTENTIAL IS MAINTAINED. THE WASTE WATERS COMING FROM THE SEDIMENTATION STAGE ARE FINALLY CONDUCTED INTO AN AEROBIC SECONDARY TREATMENT STAGE AND THE TREATED WASTEWATERS ARE THEREAFTER DISCHARGED INTO A RECEIVING BODY OF WATER OR UTILIZED OTHERWISE.

THE PROCESS IS SUITABLE IN PARTICULAR FOR THE PARTIAL STREAM DISPOSAL OF WASTEWATERS FROM THE TEXTILE INDUSTRY AND LEATHER INDUSTRY, IN PARTICULAR FOR DISPOSING OF AZO-DYE-CONTAINING AND SULPHUR-DYE-CONTAINING WASTEWATERS.

BY USING ADAPTED MICRO-ORGANISMS, WHICH ARE PRODUCED IN A HIGH-LOAD FACULTATIVE ANAEROBIC-ALLY OR AEROBICALLY OPERATED ACTIVATION STAGE (2ND TREATMENT STAGE), IN AN ANAEROBIC/ANOXIC PRELIMINARY STAGE (1ST TREATMENT STAGE), COMPOUNDS WHICH ARE POORLY DEGRADABLE AEROBICALLY OR ARE AEROBICALLY PERSISTENT ARE DIGESTED BY REDUCTION, INCLUDING EVEN AOX (HOMOGENATE HYDROCARBONS) WHICH ARE ULTIMATELY EFFECTIVELY REMOVED TOGETHER WITH THE REMAINING WASTEWATERS CONSTITUENTS BY THE SUBSEQUENT BIOLOGICAL OXIDATION (3RD TREATMENT STAGE). OWING TO THE SPECIFICALLY ADAPTED BACTERIA, THE DEGRADATION PROCESS IS, MOREOVER, ACCELERATED TO A HIGH DEGREE WITH RESPECT TO THE BIOLOGICAL PROCESSES KNOWN HITHERTO.

THE PROCESS PROCEEDS AT HIGH EFFICIENCY AT VERY LOW ENERGY USAGE AND WITHOUT COSTLY CHEMICAL ADDITIVES.

TOTAL INVESTMENT IN COMPARISON WITH EXISTING TECHNOLOGY IS REDUCED BY UP TO 50% AND OPERATING COSTS CAN BE REDUCED BY UP TO 70%.

THE TECHNOLOGY HAS BEEN PATENTED IN GERMANY AND EUROPE IN ¡¯02 AND PATENT IS PENDING IN CHINA SINCE EARLY ¡¯01 WITH REGISTRATION EXPECTED BY ¡¯03.

IN THE CHINESE MARKET THERE ARE APPROXIMATELY 1000 SUCCESSFULLY OPERATING MEDIUM AND LARGE SIZED TEXTILE PLANTS, WHICH ARE POTENTIAL APPLICANTS. BY LAW SUCH PLANTS ARE OBLIGED TO INSTALL WWT PLANTS WITHIN THE COMING TWO YEARS. FURTHERMORE, EXISTING PLANTS WHICH HAVE INSTALLED TRADITIONAL WWT SYSTEMS ARE LIKELY TO REHABILITATE SUCH SYSTEMS WITH THE NEW TREATMENT PROCESS DUE TO THE SUBSTANTIALLY LOWER OPERATION COSTS.

THE AVERAGE PRICE CHINESE FACTORIES ARE PAYING FOR WWT SYSTEMS IS AROUND 10 MILLION RMB OR EURO 1.4 MILLION. INSTALLATION COST FOR A SYSTEM USING THE NEW TECHNOLOGY CAN BE CONTROLLED WITHIN EURO 0.7 MILLION, IF THE SAME DISCHARGE STANDARDS ARE BEING APPLIED. THIS LEAVES PLENTY OF ROOM FOR HEALTHY MARGINS OF UP TO 50%.

A SHARE OF UP TO 50% IN THE JOINT VENTURE IS RESERVED FOR CIIC AT A PRICE OF EURO 5.5 MILLION.
EBITDA IS EXPECTED TO AVERAGE 70% WITHIN THE FIRST THREE YEARS OF OPERATION.
