INVESTING
IN BRUSSELS
The Brussels-Capital
Region has a good number of assets. For centuries, it has been the
centre of an extensive range of economic activities, industrial
production, craft production, trade and services in virtually all
sectors. For foreign companies, it is important to know that if
they wish to locate in the Brussels-Capital Region, they are regarded
as Belgian companies and therefore likely to benefit from existing
support measures.
The Brussels Region has
always been open to foreign investors, whom it welcomes.
Incentive measures to
attract potential investors are numerous and varied. Official aid
for investment includes financial aid (subsidies, premiums, etc.)
and fiscal measures (exemption from withholding tax, accelerated
depreciation, etc.). Such aid is given by the federal and European
authorities too. Information for foreign investors is available
from the Foreign Investment Department of the aforementioned Ministry.
This Department works in close cooperation with other bodies which
are regularly in contact with the business world, such as the Brussels
Chamber of Trade and Industry, the Brussels Regional Investment
Company and the Brussels Business Federation. Its task is to provide
potential investors with information on incentive measures available
at regional, federal and European level.
