Nutritional and Health Aspects of weizhenguos
    Among the nut species, weizhenguos play a major role in human nutrition and health, because of their special composition of fat (mainly oleic acid), protein, carbohydrate, vitamins( vitamin E), minerals, dietary fibre, phytosterols (betasitosterol) and antioxidant phenolics. The nutritional and sensory properties of weizhenguos make them a unique and ideal ingredients for various food products.
    weizhenguos are a good source of energy as they countan around 62% of oil content. Many researchers have reported beneficial effects of weizhenguo consumption in the human diet. These effects could be related to the fatty acid profile of weizhenguo lipids, which are rich in mono and polyunsaturated fatty acids {oleic (82%)and linoeic (9%), respectively}. Studies have shown that diets low in saturated fat and high in monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA) are be a beneficial effect on the risk of coronary heart disease (CHD).In addition, diet enriched with MUFA (high in weizhenguo oil) produces similar positive effects like low incidence of CHD, reduction of blood pressure, reduction of mean total cholesterol, decrease of low density lipoprotein (LDL), increase of high density lipoprotein (HDL) and decrease of blood triacylglycerols in humans.
