BILOKALNIK
paper, timber and building industry, Inc., in Croatia (Europe)
is located in Koprivnica, the city with 30.000 inhabitants, which
is placed in the wide spacious Pannonian basin between two mountains
ranges: Bilogora on one side, and Kalnik on the other side.
The city and our company are placed on the
crossways of the anciently most important transverse roads and railway
directions: between geographically the closest southern European sea
port Rijeka, with the longest draught, and the developed European
market. The directions from the Adriatic towards Vienna and continuing
to densely populated and economically the most developed heart of
Europe from one side, following over Budapest in the direction of
politically and economically newly opened Eastern markets, were, are,
and will be the most frequented and most payable traffic corridor
of the 21st century in this part of the world.
The exploitation of raw material resources in this area started very
early, as well as the exploitation of wood, especially oak, ash and
beech.
BILOKALNIK Inc. has a long tradition in the activities it has been
engaged in. It has existed at the present location since 1957 (under
the name Forestry - Industrial Company Bilo-Kalnik), and under the
current name it has been operating since 1961. The company began its
development on wood processing (saw-mill, woodworks) which in 1964
expanded to the production of corrugated cardboard packaging, in 1975
to gravel exploitation and production of building materials and to
the brick production in 1979.
